Use the folder directly for local agents. Use MCP when an agent cannot reach the disk.

Local agents

Give a local tool access to the vault folder. Its file edits pass through the same watcher and live bridge as edits from any other editor.

Remote agents

Create an MCP token in Vault settings → MCP, then point the client at your server:

Scope access

The token is tied to one person and one vault. Folder and note permissions determine what the agent can read or change.
